3.2 Engaging Students during Class

Now that everyone has been thrown into the online teaching environment, teachers have to work out how to involve their learners online as instructors. Many of the first items schools did having daily video sessions with their learners when moving to distance education. Share Your Screen with Students

Although you can make much of your conversations with the only photo, do not overlook that you do have the opportunity to share with the learners any or all of the display. This can be as easy as answering a topic of the day with a whole PowerPoint presentation. If you have produced a presentation for use in your classroom, do not replicate the strategy, just open it on your sharing screen and use Zoom software like 'lift hand' or the talk room to get a moving backchannel while you go over your slides. A bit of wisdom, verify with your learners what things you have on your laptop, and in your web browser's "personal favorites" tab before you post it. It will help you to estimate your learners’ attention towards your class.

Use Whiteboard Feature

You can use the constructed-in whiteboard functionality that works with Zoom if you would not want to display your computer. This function can take some time to become used to, particularly if you are using a cursor or a touchpad. Only go to show your computer and click "whiteboard" to display it. A little more hint – if you have an iPad-like tablet, download the Zoom application and then attend the iPad session.
